Hello, Internets Who Don't Really Know Me!
I have signed up for the Clarion Write-A-Thon this summer. Writing is important to me, and supporting sff writing programs is also important, so why not both?
A Write-A-Thon, for those of y'all that don't know, is like a walk-a-thon, except focused on writing.
I have committed not to word count as such -- my experience with things like NaNoWriMo is that pushing out a large volume of crappy writing stresses me out without generating anything usable -- as to Fingers On Keyboard time. (Also known as Butt In Chair time, except that chairs are useful for things other than writing.) Time spent actually writing, as opposed to researching, reading blogs, browsing tumblr, playing games, or other forms of distraction.
(I have heard it said that being a good writer is 3% talent, 97% not being distracted by the internet. This holds much truth.)
Secondarily, I would like to come out of the six-week Write-A-Thon with a draft of a story to send for publication.
So, you are probably asking, what can you, O Reader, do to help me?
Glad you asked.
* Sponsor me. Contributions -- which can be done by goal unit (pledging $X per, in my case, hours spent writing) or as a lump sum -- will help a cause I believe in and will also encourage my own progress. Plus, while I doubt I can raise enough to be one of the top fundraisers, I do get rewards on top of the Knowledge Of Being Helpful.
* Cheer me on. I will be posting updates here, and would love any sort of support or encouragement.
* Join me. There isn't quite the same community of crazy enthusiasm as there is around NaNoWriMo -- or if there is, I haven't found it! -- but we can still keep each other company.
Write on, internets! \o/
ETA: no idea how this reverted to draft.
